Two Identical Silhouettes from Old Artwork 私の部屋の彼と彼女
I found these two iconic pieces with extremely similar posture (or silhouette) while I was looking through my postcard collection yesterday. They surprised me that appeared to me very similar to each other.
One on the left is "Uwaki-No-Sou" by Utamaro Kitagawa, from the Ukiyoe series "Ten Examples of Women's Looks", also known as "Ten physiognomic types of women".
喜多川歌麿 婦人相学十躰より、『浮気の相』(うわきのそう）
こちらは寛政2～3年頃（1790-91）に発表された「婦人相学十躰」というシリーズの1図で、
貝髷（ばいまげ）姿の女性が湯上りの浴衣姿で肩にかけた手ぬぐいで手を拭いている。
貝髷: かんざしに洗い髪を貝のように巻き付けまとめた姿。
One on the left is "Le Chat Noir" or "Tournée du Chat Noir" by Théophile Alexandre Steinlen.
I bought this postcard back in 2008 in Paris.
左のポストカードは『黒猫（ルドルフ・サリの黒猫の巡業）』（1896年）。
テオフィル・アレクサンドル・スタンラン、スイス生まれのフランスのアールヌーボー画家の作品。
As their title suggests, the left is female human and the right is a male cat.
They are both mysteriously beautiful with the hint of sex.
とても似通ったシルエット。
どちらも世の中で今日も昔も変わらずに、どちらも魅力的である。
