Review by Artist: Armory Show 2015
The Armory show was happening this week in NYC.
I think these shows are interesting because art works are presented like freshly baked goodness at a local cafe.
I mean, it is presented differently form artworks in museums.
In this specific show, it is easy to tell whether if an artwork were already sold or not.
It is indicated on title labels, although the galleries do not explain this it is not a secret by any mean.
If the work is sold, there is a round sticker, something like ●, or ● or ● or ● on the title label. As long as I know most of the booths followed this rule rather than making it complicated. It is one of the interesting parts to see what kind of pieces are bought during the show.
This makes me wonder if no one visitors yet to try putting fake stickers on artwork labels for
This show is a luxury show to shop, and because the armory show is one of the standard art fair and pricing range, there are other shows like the"affordable art fair", with the price ranging approximate $600.00 ~ $5,000.00.
I really love this show because of the chances to get to see many art work that could be in some body's private collection or in a museum in another country.
It is also interesting to see the whole "sold (bought)" scene in action of such valuable works.
The show is also packed with well known random artists works throughout history such as Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Henry Darter, Nara Yoshitomo, Kiki Smith, Banksy, and Nick Cave, and the list is endless.
Every time during this show, it makes me feel that whole attention of the world's art market is poured to NYC more than any other season.
